"(a) The name of a corporation or foreign corporation registered to transact business in this state must contain: (1) the word “corporation” or “incorporated”; or (2) an abbreviation of one of those words.
(b) Subsection (a) does not apply to a nonprofit corporation or foreign nonprofit corporation, or to banks, trust companies, savings and loan associations, or insurance companies." AC §10A-1-5.04
The words "Limited Liability Company" or the abbreviation "L.L.C." or "LLC". These words or their abbreviation shall be the last words of the name. AC §10A-1-5.06
Domestic Professional Corporation
Must contain the words "Professional Corporation" or the abbreviation "P.C." or "PC" and shall otherwise conform to any rule promulgated by a licensing authority having jurisdiction of a professional service described in the certificate of formation of the corporation. AC §10A-1-5.08
The name of a limited liability company stated in the company's articles of organization must contain the words "limited liability company" or the abbreviation "L.L.C.," or "LLC". The word "limited" may be abbreviated as "Ltd.," and the word "company" may be abbreviated as "Co." AS §10.50.020
Domestic Professional Corporation
"(a) The corporate name of a professional corporation shall contain the last name of one or more of its shareholders, unless the regulations of a particular regulating board or the ethics of a profession permit the use of a corporate name which does not include the surname of any present or former shareholder. The corporate name shall be ended by the word “Corporation,” “Incorporated,” or “Limited,” or by the abbreviation “Corp.,” “Inc.,” or “Ltd.,” or by the words, “a professional corporation,” or by the abbreviation “P.C.” AS §10.45.120
"1. Shall contain the word "association", "bank", "company", "corporation", "limited" or "incorporated" or an abbreviation of one of these words or words or abbreviations of like import in another language... 3. Notwithstanding paragraph 1 of this subsection, shall not include the words "bank", "deposit", "credit union", "trust" or "trust company" separately or in combination to indicate or convey the idea that the corporation is engaged in banking or trust business unless the corporation is to be and becomes actively and substantially engaged in the banking, credit union or trust business or the corporation is a holding company holding substantial interest in companies actively and substantially engaged in the banking or trust business. 4. The corporate name shall also contain the words "chartered" or "professional association" or abbreviation "P.A." The use of the word "company," "corporation" or "incorporated" or any other word, words, abbreviations, affix or prefix indicating that it is a corporation, in the corporate name of a professional corporation is specifically prohibited. Domestic Professional Corporation
A professional corporation shall adopt a name consisting of the full or last name of one or more of its shareholders; except that if not otherwise prohibited by law, rules of a regulating authority or the canons of ethics of the profession concerned, a professional corporation may adopt a fictitious name. The name of a professional service corporation organized to render dental services must contain the full names or surnames of all shareholders and no other word than "chartered" or the words "professional services" or the abbreviation "P.S." or "P.C." May bear the last name of one or more persons formerly or currently associated with it. A service corporation may adopt a name which does not include the surname of any present or former shareholder.
