Cobb County Occupation Tax Certificate

Notes:

Businesses outside of unincorporated Cobb County must register with the Business License Division before conducting any business activity in this jurisdiction. To register, a business must complete all application documents and provide a copy of the occupation tax certificate from the other Georgia jurisdiction.

 

Any business with an address outside of unincorporated Cobb County that cannot provide a copy of a valid registration certificate from their local jurisdiction will be required to obtain a Cobb County Occupation Tax Certificate to operate in unincorporated Cobb County.

Fees vary based on the number of employees and estimated gross receipts. Once an application is submitted and approved, an email will be sent with the tax due.

All documents must have the same name and signature on them.

  • Private Employer Affidavit (notarized)
  • HB87 Citizenship Affidavit (notarized)
  • Valid Driver's License or Passport (must be provided in person or via e-mail)
  • I-551 or I766, if applicable
  • Certificate of Occupancy, if applicable
  • State License, if applicable

Registration Renewal

Form:

Renewal notices with instructions will be mailed to the current mailing address on file with the County. Renewals are due regardless of whether or not a notice was received. Contact the Business License division to verify a mailing address.

Penalties:

If renewal applications are not submitted by February 1, interest will begin to accrue at a rate of 1.5% per month and the penalty will be assessed at 10% on or after April 1.

Notes:

Online Business License renewals are only available to those who received an email or one-page renewal notice that includes an online payment option with a PIN number.
