Houston Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Contractor Registration

Notes:

A licensed contractor that wants to do work within the City of Houston limits must register their state license with the city and purchase a permit for work to be done.

Initial Registration

Filing Method:

Mail or email a completed application to mechanicalsection@houstontx.gov and then pay the registration fee online.

Required Attachments:
  • Copy of State of Texas license card
  • A form of official picture identification, i.e. Driver’s License, State I.D. card, etc.
  • A copy of the certificate of insurance bearing the licensee’s business affiliation. The licensee’s name and license number must also appear on the certification as “insured” or “additional insured”.
  • An iPermits Acknowledgement Form if they are a first-time user of the iPermits system.

Registration Renewal

Filing Method:

Mail or email the required documents to mechanicalsection@houstontx.gov and then pay the registration fee online.

Annually

Houston Elevator Contractor Registration

Notes:

The City of Houston regulates the installation, repair, and general safety of elevators. Licensed contractors must register with the City of Houston to obtain permits.
