How to Extra-Territorially Register – NWT Legal Registries

Filing Method:

Mail or in-person only. Submit to Legal Registries, Department of Justice, GNWT, 5009 49th Street, PO Box 1320, Yellowknife NT X1A 2L9.

Agency Fee:

$500 (CAD)

Notes:

  • A registered office in the Northwest Territories is required.
  • Name Search and Reservation required prior to filing ($25, valid 90 days). Not required for numbered or federal companies.
  • No online filing portal; signed original documents must be submitted by mail or in person.
  • Include a prepaid, self-addressed, trackable return envelope with submission.
Required Attachments:

  • Form 21 – Notice of Registered Office
  • Notarized or government-certified copies of charter documents (certificate of incorporation, articles, etc.)
  • Certificate of Good Standing or status from home jurisdiction (dated no more than 30 days prior to submission)
  • NWT Application for Name Search and Reservation
Certified Copy Requirement:

Certified copies required.

Certificate of Good Standing Requirement:

Certificate of Good Standing is required. Must be dated no more than 30 days prior to submission.
