Nova Scotia Land Surveying Corporate Permit

Law:

Nova Scotia Land Surveyors Act c. 38 § 33

Eligible Entity Types:
  • Corporations
  • Partnerships
  • Association of Persons
Foreign Qualification is Prerequisite:Yes
Ownership Requirements:

Corporations

  • A majority of the issued voting shares must be beneficially held by and registered on the books of the corporation in the name of an active member of the Association or 1 or more corporate permit holders
  • At least 1 of the directors and 1 of the officers of the corporation must be members of the Association

Partnerships

  • A majority of the partners must be active members of the Association or corporate permit holders

Association of Persons

  • A majority of the persons must be active members of the Association or corporate permit holders
Insurance Requirements:

A person who practices professional land surveying on behalf of the permit holder must be an active member and must have professional liability insurance coverage.

Notes:

Any name used by the permit holder in the practice of professional land surveying must be a fit and proper name.

Registered Agent (Special Agency) Required?No
Qualifying Individual Requirements:

The permit holder must have 1 or more full-time employees who are active members and who personally supervise, direct, and control the practice of professional land surveying in which the permit holder engages.

Initial Registration

Required Attachments:
  • Proof of professional liability insurance for each person who will be practicing land surveying on behalf of the permit holder
  • Proof that at least one director and one officer must be a licensed Nova Scotia Land Surveyor.
  • Proof of proper registration and good standing with the applicable registering authority

Registration Renewal

Due:

Annually by December 31.

  • Proof of professional liability insurance for each person practicing land surveying on behalf of the permit holder
